What is AED Machine?
An AED, or Automated External Defibrillator, is a portable medical device designed to automatically analyze abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) in victims of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). It administers a controlled electric shock to restore an effective rhythm to the heart. AEDs are compact, lightweight, and user-friendly, serving as the sole treatment option for SCA victims at risk of death. With spoken prompts and visual displays, they guide first responders through the defibrillation process step by step. Prompt intervention with an AED within the first three to five minutes post-Sudden Cardiac Arrest significantly increases the chances of survival. These devices analyze heart rhythms, alert rescuers to the need for defibrillation, and deliver a shock if necessary.
